Shortage of Freeze Dried Food???

I ordered about 30 #10 cans from Nitro-pak on 31 July. Got an email last week that the order had been shipped. I received it Monday of this week. The supply of Mountain House can't be back ordered too much for all of the stuff I ordered. Was this "shortage" contrived or just short lived?

My understanding is Mtn House is sold out for the rest of this year in #10 cans. What is available is what is in dealer's stock and that's it.

MH shifts the production line from cans to pouches in the summer every year. The demand was so strong this year that they extended the #10 can run by an extra month or so. This was their normal cycle.

How can some people wait 4-6 weeks for #10 cans when I ordered 60 cans and it was shipped in 12 days from the day I ordered??????????

+1...Nitro-Pak order (all #10 cans FD) took about 2 weeks...and they apologized for the delay.

Just got an email from Honeyville Grains. Through August 26 they're offering a 10% discount on all their freeze-dried fruits and veggies in #10 cans. I opened a can of strawberries and they were excellent. I think that they reconstitute a little flabby when soaked in water; but they're delicious straight out of the can and are great tossed into a bowl of corn flakes.

Remember to type in LABOR as your discount code when checking out. This discount will end on Tuesday August 26, 2008 at 6:00PM PST. The discount doesn't apply to shipping; but that is only $4.99 regardless of the size of your order they say.
